What We Love About the New River Gorge

There are plenty of things to love about life in the New River Gorge region. World-class outdoor recreation, gorgeous scenery everywhere you look, amazing small towns with locally owned restaurants, shops, and artists…we could go on forever! But to wrap it all up in a nice little package, we’ve listed a few of the things we love most about our region. Keep reading to find out what we love about the New River Gorge.

  1. Opportunities for growth. Ask anyone and they’ll tell you that Southern West Virginia is a unique place. Our people have the drive to succeed, and the region is full of more opportunities for growth than ever before. The best example of this is many of our counties voting to accept the new medical cannabis legislation, meaning our doors are open for any producers or retailers of medical cannabis who many want to set up shop in the New River Gorge. New industries like this allow us to grow even more, and we’re excited to see what the future brings!
  2. Outdoor excursions. Our region is known for it’s exciting recreation opportunities! The New River Gorge region is home to several West Virginia State Parks and three National Park Service entities: the New River Gorge National River, the Gauley River National Recreation Area, and the Bluestone National Scenic River. Adventures like whitewater rafting, rock climbing, hiking, and more draw people from all over the world to our corner of West Virginia, which helps create economic stability. It’s a nature lover’s (and small business owner’s) paradise!
  3. Connecting with communities. The small towns and local communities in our region are hands down some of the best in the world, but we may be a little biased. We love connecting our communities and the small business owners who live there with the resources they need to thrive. What we do allows us to give back to our region and help it not just survive, but reach its full potential.

The New River Gorge is a special place, and we’re incredibly lucky to call it home. What do you love about the New River Gorge region?
