Oak Hill, W.Va. (May 26, 2026) – NRG Video Production founded and led by Liz Love of Oak Hill is transitioning its business model, and Love’s strategic ideas earned cash and technical assistance to take the next steps forward. The Pitch Southern West Virginia Business Idea Competition held in late 2025 by the New River Gorge Regional Development Authority and its entrepreneurial program – the West Virginia Hive – helped many entrepreneurs get started, pivot their business plans, or accelerate growth.
“I started NRG Video Production as outdoor videography rooted in the New River Gorge, documenting whitewater, climbing, and the day-to-day culture of the region,” said Love. “Over time, that content grew into something much larger, reaching more than 100 million organic views across platforms. That growth came from focusing on what actually connects with people—both locally and beyond—and building content around real engagement rather than trends alone.”
Love emphasized that NRG Video Production is in a transition phase. “I’m moving away from client-based video work and building it into an audience-first media platform centered around storytelling in the New River Gorge,” she said. “The focus is on creating original, high-performing content with a clear identity, including the development of concepts like Carnage Beast—a fictional cryptid designed to become a recognizable and shareable character tied to the region. The long-term goal is to build a platform people follow consistently, and then expand that into merchandise, collaborations, and event-based experiences that feel authentic to the Gorge rather than generic.”
Love thanked leaders of the NRGRDA and WV Hive, sharing that “the Pitch Southern West Virginia Business Idea experience helped refine how I communicate that vision. Translating something built through real-world traction into a structured pitch was challenging, but valuable—it clarified both where the business is now and where it’s heading. One of the ongoing challenges is operating in a space where traditional business metrics don’t always align with how digital media actually performs. Short-form content moves quickly and building something that stands out while staying adaptable is an ongoing focus.”
Love’s vision is for NRG Video Production to reflect the New River Gorge region and southern West Virginia. “What excites me most is the shift toward building something original—something with its own voice, identity, and audience,” she added. “The goal is not just to showcase the region, but to create content that becomes part of how people experience and talk about it.”
Devon Fitzgerald, Business Advisor at the WV Hive working with Love, said, “It is exciting to see a young entrepreneur who grew up in southern West Virginia deciding to stay here and help visually share the stories of the people, places, history and culture of southern West Virginia.”
