HOUSING NEEDS ASSESSMENT - NEW RIVER GORGE

Join Us in Creating a Plan for Our Community’s Housing Needs

The New River Gorge Regional Development Authority (NRGRDA) has launched a Housing Needs Assessment initiative to identify the region’s housing challenges and opportunities. We’re working with community members, stakeholders, and experts to create a comprehensive, data-driven plan to address these needs. Your input is essential in helping us develop housing solutions that will benefit all who live and work in the New River Gorge region. 

Recap of the Stakeholder Meeting & Resources 

On September 9th, we kicked off this initiative with a Stakeholder Meeting attended by over 30 regional leaders and housing experts. Whether you were able to join or not, we invite you to explore the resources shared and continue to stay involved in the process. 

Why Your Input Matters 

We need your help in shaping the future of housing across our region. This assessment covers Beckley, Fayette, Nicholas, Raleigh, and Summers counties, aiming to create actionable strategies based on real data and community input. 

By participating, you will: 

  • Help identify housing gaps and opportunities. 
  • Contribute to the development of a region-wide housing strategy. 
  • Ensure your community’s needs are heard and addressed. 

Key Takeaways from the Stakeholder Meeting

Regional Housing Challenges:

  • Stakeholders identified critical housing shortages across multiple sectors, particularly workforce and affordable housing.

Initial Findings:

  • Bowen National Research presented preliminary data that highlighted housing gaps and trends in employment, migration, and population growth.

Next Steps:

  • Data collection will continue, with ongoing opportunities for public input as we work towards a comprehensive report in the coming months.
