Business View Magazine Covers Raleigh County Memorial Airport Development for Aerospace Industry Jobs

Recently, Business View Magazine interviewed Raleigh County Memorial Airport Manager Tom Cochran as part of a series on regional American airports. The interview begins with details about the airport and how it is using land and infrastructure to attract aerospace industry businesses to the region. The Raleigh County Memorial Airport offers daily commercial flights as well as private and charter options. The airport is located just outside of downtown Beckley with two industrial parks and two interstate highways nearby.

Opportunities to attract and support the aerospace industry led to the Tucson Atlantic Consulting and Common Sense Economic Development, along with data partner — the University of Southern Mississippi — awarding AEROReady Community Certification to the Airport, connecting seven counties in southern West Virginia. Those counties include Fayette, McDowell, Mercer, Nicholas, Raleigh, Summers, and Wyoming. The Raleigh County Memorial Airport Regional Analysis revealed a clear opportunity to expand the economic base and add aerospace businesses in and around the Raleigh County Memorial Airport. The assessment determined that the airport has all the resources, services, and available industrial land to support aerospace manufacturing business and MRO operations.
