For Amazon

This week, Amazon celebrated the grand opening of its two first operations facilities in West Virginia with state leaders, local officials, and community partners. At the two last mile facilities, local employees support efforts to provide fast delivery and great service to customers. At both facilities, all Amazon employees make at least $19 per hour.

“I was proud to join Amazon and many of our community leaders here in West Virginia in celebrating the opening of the Beaver facility,” said United States Senator Shelley Moore Capito. This investment will bring so many meaningful job opportunities to our communities and strengthen our economy. I look forward to seeing the positive impact this facility will have for hardworking West Virginians and their families.”

“What an incredible day for Raleigh County,” said United States Senator Jim Justice. “For years, we have worked tirelessly to bring goodness to this region—from investing in major infrastructure like the Beckley Z-Way and building new schools for the next generation, to promoting our crown jewel, the New River Gorge National Park. All of those wins have paved the way for Amazon to invest in this region, and I am thrilled to welcome them to my hometown. This is another massive home run for West Virginia —and there’s no question this investment will bring even more economic growth and opportunity for years to come.”

“Amazon’s continued investment in West Virginia marks an important milestone for our state,” said Governor Patrick Morrisey. “These facilities in Davisville and Beaver represent more than just buildings – they’re a sign that West Virginia is growing and competing for major employers. With hundreds of quality jobs offering competitive wages, this investment will strengthen our communities and create new opportunities for hardworking West Virginians. We look forward to continuing to work with Amazon as they grow here and build a partnership that delivers for West Virginians for years to come.

“I’m thrilled to welcome Amazon’s first facilities to West Virginia,” said Delegate Jordan Maynor. “The hundreds of jobs created, with wages starting at $19 per hour, represent real opportunities for our families and communities. This is exactly the kind of investment that helps West Virginia compete and grow.”

“This is an exciting day for West Virginia’s economy,” said Delegate Vernon Criss. “Amazon’s commitment to our state—creating flexible,  quality jobs with strong starting pay—shows that West Virginia is open for business. Our residents will benefit from both the great employment opportunities and the improved service these facilities bring to local Amazon customers.”

“The Wood County Development Authority is proud to welcome Amazon’s investment in Davisville,” said Lindsey Piersol, Executive Director of the Wood County Development Authority. “The establishment of a last-mile facility represents a significant milestone for Wood County, strengthening our logistics infrastructure, creating quality jobs, and enhancing service capabilities for residents and businesses across the region. This project reflects the continued momentum of economic growth in our community and underscores Wood County’s strategic location for distribution and commerce.”

“The Raleigh County Commission is proud to have invested in the development of the Amazon distribution center in Raleigh County,” said Greg Duckworth, President of the Raleigh County Commission. “This project represents a significant step forward in strengthening our local economy and expanding job opportunities for our residents. Amazon’s presence reflects the kind of partnership we value. A partnership that supports growth, innovation, and long-term success for our county.”

“This project is a powerful example of what’s possible when strong local partnerships, strategic site development, and private investment align,” said Jina Belcher, Executive Director of the New River Gorge Regional Development Authority. “The Beaver location represents collaborative work to position our region for opportunities like this, and we’re proud to support Amazon’s investment in the New River Gorge region. At its core, this project is about creating opportunities for our workforce, our families, and our future. This announcement brings meaningful job creation and reflects both the progress our region has made and the momentum we’re continuing to build together, reinforcing that Southern West Virginia is ready to compete and win. New River Gorge Regional Development Authority is honored for the trust and commitment Amazon is building right here in our community and we look forward to the growth this will bring to our region.”

“We are excited to be part of the Beaver community and to lead a team that’s committed to serving our neighbors across West Virginia,” said Ashley Cavender, leader of Amazon’s Beaver facility. “At Amazon, we believe in delivering not just for our customers, but for our employees as well—that’s why we’re proud to offer competitive wages starting at $19 per hour and opportunities for career growth. We look forward to being a productive member of this community for years to come.”

“It’s an honor to open our doors in Davisville and become part of this community,” said Curtis Jones, leader of Amazon’s Davisville facility. “Our team is committed to delivering fast, reliable service to local customers while creating quality jobs for West Virginia residents. We’re proud to bring new employment opportunities to the region and look forward to growing as a strong community partner.”
