Now Hiring: Project Manager

Title: Project Manager
Type of Employment: Full-time EEO – Manager (scale $45,000 – $55,000)
Pay Rate: TBD + benefits
Task Supervisor: WV Hive Executive Director

Purpose

The Project Manager will work with the WV Hive Executive Director, along with the WV Hive team to perform high-level professional work related to the support of NRGRDA entrepreneurship initiatives, and primarily in relation to the work on the Community and Business Resilience Initiative (CBRI) project associated with the ACT Now Coalition Build Back Better USEDA Regional Challenge. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication and coordination skills, be tech savvy, and will confidently work with entrepreneurs and small business owners, CBRI project partners, high-level executives, CRAN (Country Roads Angel Network) accredited investors, funders, partners, and community members.

This position is responsible for leading the CBRI project and overseeing the completion of project deliverables by a set deadline to meet grant requirements. Their duties include assisting the WV Hive Executive Director with budget oversite and working with staff and business clients to make decisions and monitor the progress of the project to keep it on schedule and adhere to deadlines. Additionally, the project manager will work closely with the WV Hive executive director and partners on the development of a green business practices curriculum and materials and will be responsible for coordination and oversite of the trainings, as well as facilitation of various training activities, as part of the grant.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or a related field
  • 5-8 years of project management and related experience
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification preferred
  • Strong familiarity with project management software tools, methodologies, and best practices
  • Experience seeing projects through the full life cycle
  • Understanding of the grant life cycle process including grant seeking, grant writing, and grant coordination process a plus
  • Knowledge of responsible business practices and market development
  • Ability to determine informational needs, to collect and analyze information, and to devise and develop statistical analyses and reports
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to use in performance of job.
    Position requires occasional travel throughout WV
  • Must be able to successfully pass a background check and drug test

Training:

Within 3 months of beginning hire, successful candidate must obtain the following training and
certifications if not currently held:

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Determine and define project scope and objectives
  • Predict resources needed to reach objectives and manage resources in an effective and efficient manner
  • Prepare budget based on scope of work and resource requirements
  • Track project costs in order to meet budget
  • Develop and manage a detailed project schedule and work plan
  • Provide project updates on a consistent basis to various stakeholders regarding strategy, adjustments, and progress
  • Manage contracts with vendors and suppliers by assigning tasks and communicating expected deliverables
  • Utilize industry best practices, techniques, and standards throughout entire project execution
  • Monitor progress and make adjustments as needed
  • Measure project performance to identify areas for improvement
  • Support and assist with all program activities, including development of program processes, documentation, and communication/marketing tools
  • Development and maintenance of specialized databases and systems for recording and tracking program activity, and related statistical information; creates and distributes standard and special reports, studies, summaries, and analyses, as required
  • Work directly with the Grants and Accounting Manager and other staff in monitoring and coordinating the administration of post-award grants to ensure that budgeting and administrative policies, procedures, and agency requirements are being followed, including reporting activities on a quarterly basis
  • Support growth and program development
  • Assist in identifying new grant funding opportunities that align with the mission of the WV Hive and CRAN through local, state and national sources
  • Prepare project update reports in coordination with the grant’s coordinator for review and approval by the Hive executive director and submission by the grants coordinator
  • Provide status reports monthly to executive director
  • Foster professional interactions, networking, and professional growth
  • Establish and oversee administrative procedures to meet objectives set by boards of directors or senior management
  • Direct activities of professional and technical staff members and volunteers
  • Evaluate the work of staff and volunteers to ensure that programs are of appropriate quality and that resources are used effectively
  • Prepare and maintain records and reports
  • Establish and maintain relationships with other agencies and organizations in community to meet community needs
  • Research and analyze member or community needs to determine program directions and goals.
  • Speak to community groups to explain and interpret agency purposes, programs, and policies.
  • Analyze proposed legislation, regulations, or rule changes to determine how agency services could be impacted.
  • Represent the Organization in a positive way in the community
  • Maintain and update relevant knowledge
  • Efficiently organize, plan, and prioritize work activities
  • Coordinate special events or programs
  • Assist in the development of operating strategies, plans, or procedures
  • Promote services and programs offered by the Organization
  • Perform other miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned and on project basis as required

Work Environment:

Works indoors at Hive locations, with home office location at the WV Hive Business Hub in Beckley, as well as traveling to client locations, membership recruitment meetings, and training and events.

Physical Demands:

Must be able to complete all physical demands of the job, which may include, but not be limited to sitting or standing for extended periods, operating a motor vehicle, performing routine tasks, carrying supplies, and reading normal typewritten print. Must have corrected vision and hearing within normal range and have manual dexterity within normal range of motion of all extremities. Must be able to provide written and verbal communication. Must be able to work alone without direct supervision. Employee must have the ability to successfully manage abrupt schedule changes and to maintain professionalism in coping with the stress of working with clients and businesses.
