Purpose:

The NRGRDA/WV Hive Grants Compliance Coordinator will be responsible for grant compliance across the organization. This position will support the accounting director to ensure financial controls are in place and are compliant with federal regulations and grant-specific terms and conditions. In addition to the accounting director, the Grants Compliance Coordinator will work closely with the NRGRDA deputy director and executive director, project managers, and other staff to perform high-level professional work related to coordination of grant activities, grant reporting, processing draw requests, and other grant related responsibilities as assigned.

Goals:

• Perform high-level professional work related to grant seeking, grant writing, coordination of grant activities, grant reporting, processing draw requests, and other grant related responsibilities as assigned.
• Develop and implement the overall impact reporting strategy, including the creation and implementation of an impact database and annual impact report.
• Move to establish contacts and manage professional relationships with local and national funding opportunities, governmental agencies, community-based organizations, representatives of the private sector and contract vendors.
• Ensure all efforts serve to achieve immediate and long-term business goals, identifying and executing improvements for processes, context, and lead generation.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Coordination and oversight of the financial aspects of grant operations including budget proposals, financial reporting, monthly grant reconciliation and invoicing, monitoring allowable expenditures.
• Analyze and review expenditures, identify compliance policy violations, communicate concerns and issues to accounting director and deputy director, facilitate resolution of outstanding issues.
• Prepare materials for submission for reimbursement to granting agencies, following agency requirements for format, content, and submission methods.
• Create and maintain project budgets.
• Work with the NRGRDA accounting team to contribute as needed to the annual audit preparation.
• Review grant expenditures for alignment to grant program budget; ensures match funding expenditures align with grant funding expenditures.
• Research and identify new grant funding opportunities that align with the mission of the NRGRDA and WV Hive through local, state and national sources. Review complex solicitations with project teams and assist in the preparation of proposals, bids and contract modifications; oversee the establishment of contracts and grants in the program’s financial systems.
• Determine eligibility and coordinates the planning and preparation of grant proposals.
• Prepares and compiles all components of each grant submission, ensuring that the proposal is formatted, packaged, and submitted in accordance with granting agency requirements.
• Monitors and coordinates the administration of post-award grants to ensure that budgeting and administrative policies, procedures, and agency requirements are being followed; manages administrative problems and/or budget changes occurring during the awarded granting period.
• Prepares agency grant reports for accounting director and deputy director’s review and submission.
• Fosters professional interactions, networking, and professional growth.
• Performs other miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned and works with WV Hive executive director and other WV Hive staff on project basis as required.
• Performance Skills and Individual Competencies Education:
• Bachelor’s Degree in English, communications, accounting, or a similar field.

• Strong understanding of the grant life cycle process including grant seeking, grant writing, grant coordination process, and financial management of grant funded organizations.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• Past work experience as grant coordinator or similar role
• Experience working at state or regional organizations
• Knowledge of non-traditional funding sources
• Proven ability to build partnerships with Chambers of Commerce, governmental and non­ profit organizations.
• Strong communication skills, including verbal, written, and public speaking
• Proficiency in Microsoft: Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

Work Environment:

Works indoors at Hive locations, with primary office location at the WV Hive in Beckley, as well as traveling to client locations, membership recruitment meetings, and training and events.

Physical Demands:

Must be able to complete all physical demands of the job, which may include, but not be limited to sitting or standing for extended periods, operating a motor vehicle, performing routine tasks, carrying supplies, and reading normal typewritten print. Must have corrected vision and hearing within normal range and have manual dexterity within normal range of motion of all extremities. Must be able to provide written and verbal communication. He/she must be able to work alone without direct supervision. Employee must have the ability to deal with abrupt schedule changes and to maintain professionalism in coping with the stress of working with clients and businesses.
