Educating our future

Technical programs provide students with skill sets that allow graduates an opportunity for immediate employment. These programs are crafted with the interest of the students in mind, as well as feedback from industry leaders to ensure the students graduating from these programs are ready to contribute to the industry on day one of their hire.

An example of programs involving the partnership of the private sector and a local technical college, located within our region, includes technical college education departments that provide practical training in business training, entrepreneurship, marketing, management, and accounting.  These programs offer associate’s degrees as well as the ability to feed into four-year institutions that enable the student to earn a bachelor’s degree with less financial investment.  Local colleges are also currently assembling regular sector strategy meetings where potential employers gather with secondary and higher education institutions to offer business training, adult education, and advanced degree opportunities that are directly beneficial to developing industries in the region. This will allow for more focused quick response training curriculums to be developed, keeping the region’s graduates primed for modern workforce involvement.
