On the first Thursday of every month, a group gathers from around the country to enjoy lively discussions, feedback on computer programming ideas, new technology, and of course – pizza. Anyone with a passion for technology, tech development, programing or coding is welcome. They don’t necessarily have to be physically there to join in the fun either! People often join virtually from out of state, increasing the diversification of discussion and perspective. It’s designed as a time for programming professionals to kick back and get to know one another, debug, and brainstorm about their work. Those interested in joining can find the meeting they’d like to join on https://www.meetup.com/wv-hive-network/events/232920896/. Every meeting is different, and the groups are free to find the discussions and space that fits their unique needs. Some recent topics of discussion have included new tech like genome sequencing and bio-hacking, new programming languages like “Django”,  and the possibility of collaborating on a civic project. Business Coach and Hive Director, Joe Carlucci says “Conversations and networks like these are exactly how we encourage tech based entrepreneurs to live here and work here as well as evangelize to other programmers and developers, that you can have the tech based professional network,  lower cost of living, and the quality of life that’s normally sacrificed living in larger cities.”
