WVDO Flex-E-Grant for Assessment of the former Richwood Armory, which is located next to the City Park and pool. This project will provide clarity as to the viability and required investment in bringing the former Armory fully on line as an option for more extensive community utilization.
The goal of this project is to secure professional building assessment of the Armory, thus providing the means for a data driven decision regarding the investment and efforts required in re-utilization of a prominent city owned facility. Overarching, the goal of the project is to advance strategic community revitalization efforts already taking place in the city of Richwood. Subsequent to this assessment, partners can be approached in regards to investment in the facility improvement.
Activities will include securing structural and mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP), ADA, and Code Compliance assessment of the city owned former Armory structure which will allow for a more refined approach to re-purposing of the site. This lightly utilized venue requires inhabitant adequacy & evaluation as part of ongoing redevelopment consideration. The building has not been inhabited for an extended period and this project will provide further analysis for potential use on behalf of the Blueprint Communities – Community Engagement Task Force.
